§ 38.02. HOLIDAYS.

- (A) The following days are declared paid holidays at the regular rate of pay for all full-time employees:(1) New Year's Day, January 1;(2) Martin Luther King Day, January 15;(3) Presidents' Day, February 19;(4) Good Friday;(5) Memorial Day, the last Monday in May;(6) Independence Day, July 4;(7) Labor Day, the first Monday in September;(8) Veterans' Day, November 11;(9) Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November;(10) The Friday following Thanksgiving Day;(11) Christmas Eve, December 24; and(12) Christmas Day, December 25.(B) In addition to the above holidays, full-time employees may select another day as a holiday, subject to approval in advance by the Mayor. If a worker is required to work on one of the holidays listed above, the worker shall be paid holiday pay plus straight time for hours worked. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following day will be considered the holiday. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding day will be considered the holiday. If a holiday occurs during a worker's vacation, the worker will be given an equivalent time off with pay.(Ord. 96-002, passed 3-11-96)
